FAQ- Frequently Asked Questions

This isn't your casual card game down at the Lodge. This is an all day event that is planned months in advance. Your buy-in pays for food- (really good food from local people), a souvenir (this year it will be koozies), snacks beforehand, a sidegame, a one ticket into the "win your way in next year" raffle, cash payouts to the top (at least) 20% of players, prize baskets for (at least) 15 places beyond that, restroom facilities and donations to the helpful bartenders. This is in no way, shape form or idea any sort of "money maker" for us.

Beyond the buy-in, we do suggest bringing extra cash for 50/50 (multiple chances to win!), bartender tipping and other side games. Think of this like attending a wedding- and not that distant nephew that scratched your car at the family reunion, more like one of your best friends from college. You go in knowing you have to buy that weirdly specific cutlery set they registered for but you will leave wanting it to last just a little longer and with memories you'll never forget. 

We will have designated "traffic control" the day of. They will direct you where to park in the back yard. PLEASE be mindful of your speed and surroundings when driving. 

Massillon itself is not abundant with hotels- but we are close to Canton (Belden Village area) and Akron if you happen to be travelling from afar. 

PLEASE DO NOT COME EARLY

The tents are closed until we open registration- no exceptions. We take pride in keeping everything "locked up" until we start. While we appreciate willingness to help with last minute details, we coordinate all help ahead of time. You simply must arrive between 1:00 and 2:00 to ensure you get registered. 

This takes place in our backyard. We do our best to make sure the ground is level and mark off any treacherous areas, but it is still outdoors. Use your best judgement. We will have tables set up and you rotate tables for each game. We do try to keep as much room as possible between everyone, but it is similar to being in a banquet hall. Restroom facilities are port-a-pots as well. 

We will have designated smoking areas OUTSIDE. There is no smoking or vaping permitted in the tent. Please be courteous of the other players and of us. The tents are our personal property and many of the players do not want to or cannot be around smoke/vaping. The games do not last that long and you will have ample time to sneak outside should the urge strike.

Along the same lines, this is our yard- where our dogs and kids roam. Please do not leave trash or butts lying around, it's gross.

This event is held outback, we will not be allowing anyone into our home up front. Please be ready when you arrive or get yourself ready at your vehicle. 

We do our best to keep things moving, but it really is hard to give a set time. Plan to be here until 11 at the latest. 

The way this tournament works, you play all the rounds, it will throw off all the other players if you leave before finishing. It is also courteous to everyone to stay through awards. Again, we get through everything as quickly as we can, but this is meant to be a fun event.
